Fun and Fearless

It was July 2011, I was 16 and Rihanna was the only girl in the world finding love in a hopeless place. I had just bought my first Cosmopolitan magazine and if I remember correctly, neon tribal patterns were rife in River Island. In the editor’s letter of August 2011, Louise Court wrote that ‘Cosmo’s mantra is all about helping women get the most out of life’ – between that and noticing FOR FUN FEARLESS FEMALES printed along the magazine spine, I was hooked and consequently added a new issue to my shelf every month. Whether it be beauty, style or career advice, the Cosmopolitan empire has me covered and lately I’ve been turning to cosmopolitan.co.uk for some late night reading –  check this out by the way, Laura Capon always makes me LOL! To this day, the editor’s letter is still the page I look forward to reading as it always inspires me and this month is no exception. The August 2017 issue is such a good read and this time, Farrah Storr details her own …

A #chicvibesonly Graduation Gift From Links of London

As I write my final university assignment I find myself almost giddy with anticipation about finally graduating. I can’t help but wonder what shoes I should wear or which Tom Ford lipstick goes with a graduation gown… Although, with the distress of finding the perfect dress comes the indulgence of picking out a graduation gift. Naturally, I wanted to choose something that will last a lifetime seeing as that’s how long my degree seemed to take… Therefore, I began considering jewellery and that’s when the redefined Links of London Sweetie Bracelet became my new #chicvibesonly accessory.  What I love most about this bracelet is that it can be personalised, which was the kind of distinctive attribute I was looking for. When it came to designing my Sweetie, I took to their online ‘bracelet builder,’ which allows you to choose from a huge selection of charms and rings to create and visualise your bracelet. I instantly added gold-tone rings, since I like to wear both gold and silver jewellery. As I scrolled through the various charms available, I was …

A Note on Personal Style

Over the past few weeks, I couldn’t help but pose a question of personal style. What makes an authentic personal style? Wearing three new-in pieces from Zara, is that personal style? Is imitating your favourite fashion blogger who wore flatforms with a red blazer and leather pants whilst posing down a whimsical Kensington street… is that personal style? To me, personal style is creating outfits that you love, that you put together from your own vision whilst you were ironing your bedding on a Sunday afternoon, watching Sex and The City reruns… Perhaps it’s inspired by your favourite designers but ultimately, you wear exactly what you want to wear and with any luck, something that makes you feel remarkable. I’ve never been happy with my style, I might have had a cute bag and shoes but the clothes part was never that great. In recent times, I’ve began to truly ascertain my own personal aesthetic and as a result my style has developed tremendously. Not only has my confidence grown but I feel more like …

Feelin’ 22

It’s Wednesday 22nd March and it’s my 22nd Birthday next week. I’ve had to stop writing and search out Taylor Swifts’ album Red, so I can write about feeling twenty-two whilst singing 22. Whilst planning a Birthday dinner at my favourite restaurant, it occurred to me that no respectable party was without invites and so I turned to my go-to stationary site Papier and found the invitations my chic vibes only status would approve of – naturally this included a yellow striped envelope because yellow really is the colour of the season, if you didn’t already know. For a whole host of reasons, my birthday this year feels so much more than it has ever done previously. After a Dior filled 21st, I didn’t think I could top it so soon however, with new season Gucci vibes, an Italian adventure and the dinner party of my dreams with some truly fab friends – Feelin’ 22 has never felt better.   X EKD

Life is Gucci

Yes, I bought the gold Gucci shoes of my dreams and yes my life has never been better. I am writing this a week in advance as said shoes have been sat in my bedroom waiting to be worn and adored for just under a month now and my anticipation is eagerly mounting. However, as you’re reading this it’s actually my 22nd Birthday! SO, I purchased them online from Farfetch and they were delivered from Italy within two days. I have used Farfetch to purchase numerous luxury accessories and I always find their service and product selection to be pretty good. My Gucci Marmonts were beautifully wrapped in a Gucci box and came with two cream silk dust bags, perfect for travelling. They’re leather soled and fit like a glove however, I had previously tried the heeled pair on and so I knew I needed a size down as Gucci fits big. I take these in a 38 but I am typically a 39 in my other shoes like Tods, Lanvin or Louboutin. Also, they are …

Acne Studios: The Canada Scarf

I couldn’t help but wonder what my most worn piece in my wardrobe is and after much consideration, I decided upon my Acne Studios Canada scarves. I currently have two and intend on acquiring more colours in the near future. Not only are they pure Italian quality, they’re basically a blanket luxuriously disguised as a scarf. They compliment my tiresome commute impeccably, and make it even easier for me to tilt my head comfortably whilst I snooze ungracefully on the train at 7.42am. Composed of 100% wool, a Canada scarf is an Acne Studios staple and will keep you warm in oversized style, flattering any coat or cosy knit.  I reach for mine everyday and find the understated and simplistic vibe of Acne to be my preferred one at present. As I build my accessory collection, I find myself choosing pieces that I not only adore but that will always frame my wardrobe effortlessly. My Canada scarves are my go-to and a piece I would warmly recommend investing in. #chicvibesonly   EKD X

Investing in Fashion?

Today, I couldn’t help but wonder when one should step aside from investing in classic staples and start buying into trend driven fashion. I have always tried to make sensible purchases; by that I mean luxury items that will never go out of style, like my Lady Dior or Chanel slingbacks for example. However, when one becomes infatuated with gold shoes, one arrives at a significant dilemma… My collection has only grown with time as it takes a while to save for these things so, I continually aim for timeless pieces to ensure they are a lifetime style investment. Thus, I’ve ended up with an array of wallets, handbags, shoes and scarves, all of which are wearable and chic pieces which elevate any outfit year after year. That being said, in recent times it would seem seasonal statements are the real indication of stylishness and who are you if you don’t have new season Gucci vibes? Be it a Chloe Faye, Dior So Real’s or Gianvito Rossi Calabria courts, trends are becoming the new timeless …

Christian Dior Diorissimo Wallet

After using my Lady Dior with my Louis Vuitton Insolite wallet, I decided it was just too big and bulky for the bag. It’s such a great wallet, it wears amazingly well and is perfect for everyday however, I don’t feel it’s suited to the Lady Dior. I wanted something smaller, delicate and black. This led me to my Christian Dior boutique once again, to go through as many Dior wallets as I could to find ‘the one.’  I ended up going for the Medium “Diorissimo” Voyageur wallet in black calf leather and contrasting Rose Indien interior with champagne gold hardware. I wanted something smaller than my LV, and so this medium size is perfect! It’s made from an absolutely beautiful textured calf leather and so will resist scratches from the zip of the Lady Dior. It houses eight card slots, a zipped coin compartment and an interior middle pocket. It also comes with the detachable Dior charm for added elegance. I absolutely adore this wallet, it’s a beautiful and convenient size without being too small. …

Rad T-Shirts

Despite the fact that I aim for #chicvibes when I get dressed in the morning, somedays I do just want to throw on my 501’s and be casually comfortable, this is when I search out a great tee. I have linen t-shirts from Zara that I adore and navy tees from Whistles which are probably the most flattering t-shirts ever! However, a sassy slogan t-shirt is such a cute addition to anyones wardrobe, my favourites are from Rad.  Rad t-shirts are 100% cotton and they offer both casual and slim fit options, not to mention a whole array of innovative and sassy slogans. They fit well, wash well and are perfect to wear through the summer months with sneakers and jean shorts! I would never usually gravitate towards slogan tee’s for myself however, these two from Rad are so me, I just had to pick them up! What are your thoughts on slogan t-shirts? Are you with me and dressing for comfort?   EKD X
