A Note on Personal Style

Over the past few weeks, I couldn’t help but pose a question of personal style. What makes an authentic personal style? Wearing three new-in pieces from Zara, is that personal style? Is imitating your favourite fashion blogger who wore flatforms with a red blazer and leather pants whilst posing down a whimsical Kensington street… is that personal style? To me, personal style is creating outfits that you love, that you put together from your own vision whilst you were ironing your bedding on a Sunday afternoon, watching Sex and The City reruns… Perhaps it’s inspired by your favourite designers but ultimately, you wear exactly what you want to wear and with any luck, something that makes you feel remarkable. I’ve never been happy with my style, I might have had a cute bag and shoes but the clothes part was never that great. In recent times, I’ve began to truly ascertain my own personal aesthetic and as a result my style has developed tremendously. Not only has my confidence grown but I feel more like …

A Day in Milan

April 1st 15:10 A car has just picked me up from home to take me to Manchester Airport. I’m flying at 18:30 from Terminal 3. Feeling so excited, slightly anxious and awfully travel sick…. 18:20 I am FINALLY on the flight. An emergency evacuation from the terminal was not part of the plan but amplified my anxiety tremendously… Annoyingly but fortunately, it was a false alarm. I’m seated in 2F – window seat with leg room. Still feeling travel sick and now, overwhelmingly sleepy. 19:15 I’m listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and while we chase the sunset to Milan, Italy I can’t help but wonder what this trip will bring. I am so excited. 23:04 I’m walking towards Milano Centrale, it’s dark and raining… Ella is running towards me, large green umbrella in hand. I couldn’t be happier.  23:49 We stopped for some pizza and have now arrived at our hotel. Buonanotte I planned my outfits before I packed and so for our day in Milan I wore an oversized mens …

Thoughts on the Large Lady Dior

I actually shocked myself when I sat down to write this and realised I bought my Lady Dior bag a year ago this month. Granted, it sat in my room unopened for another six weeks until my 21st Birthday, but still! It’s been exactly twelve months since I made my greatest and most anticipated purchase! So, is it worth the money? Absolutely. Each size of the Lady has increased substantially in price since I purchased mine, I paid £2750 in February 2016. The Large currently retails for £3200, look how much bag you are getting for your buck though… in comparison, a large classic Chanel bag is now £4830. From an investment point of view, after one year my bag still looks brand new and I have confidence that if I were ever to sell it (like I would haha) I would definitely get my money back, which is a comforting thought when paying a significant amount of money for a bag. Yearly Dior price increases and Brexit have affected the escalation but, would I buy …

Investing in Fashion?

Today, I couldn’t help but wonder when one should step aside from investing in classic staples and start buying into trend driven fashion. I have always tried to make sensible purchases; by that I mean luxury items that will never go out of style, like my Lady Dior or Chanel slingbacks for example. However, when one becomes infatuated with gold shoes, one arrives at a significant dilemma… My collection has only grown with time as it takes a while to save for these things so, I continually aim for timeless pieces to ensure they are a lifetime style investment. Thus, I’ve ended up with an array of wallets, handbags, shoes and scarves, all of which are wearable and chic pieces which elevate any outfit year after year. That being said, in recent times it would seem seasonal statements are the real indication of stylishness and who are you if you don’t have new season Gucci vibes? Be it a Chloe Faye, Dior So Real’s or Gianvito Rossi Calabria courts, trends are becoming the new timeless …

All The Vibes of 2016

I’d like to think that with every passing year, EKD is all the wiser and this year, I actually feel I am. Well when I say wiser, perhaps I mean happier? or content? or maybe this is just how one feels when the notion Gucci is life is finally realised? This year, I began to feel like myself – Yes I know, what a peculiar idea. But it’s true, I’ve never felt more like myself than I do now and I believe this has somewhat contributed to the overall success of my 21st year. I spent too much time on trains this year however, I refined the art of clutching my handbag in my lap whilst snoozing ungracefully on a 7am commute. I also ate more Italian food than ever and found myself eagerly planning all the trips I intend to take in 2017. My list is as follows (in no particular order) Rome, Florence, Milan and Paris. This list, which is constantly being added to, will be completed by next Christmas and I can’t …

A Devoted Miss Dior

It is no secret that Christian Dior stole my heart in 2016 with just about everything! From the Lady Dior I always dreamed of carrying, to the shoes I shall wear to my sisters wedding… I really have been the luckiest gal this year and a devoted Miss Dior. I recall the moment quite vividly; I was on a break at work when my sister called. Elle was in Paris on a surprise birthday trip… I had to tell her I only had a few minutes and she had to tell me that she got engaged the day before. I was oh so happy for them! But the biggest question we both had was, what shoes will we wear?! We both chuckled and whilst Elle recounted her magical Parisian moment, I grinned so much it hurt and then went back to work. That was eighteen months ago. Six months ago, after endlessly searching through Net-A-Porter, Jimmy Choo, the Manolo Blahnik store in Burlington Arcade and refreshing Roger Vivier on Luisaviaroma, I found the perfect shoes, new …

The September Issue ’16

“Picture perfect sexiness now feels boring” – An assertion of wonderful significance I just had to jot down from British Vogue and share with you as they welcome The New SASS! “…A modern word for opinionated sexiness” and I am obsessed! Sass is in and so are grungy florals paired with a polished VB boot – take your sass to the streets and feel yourself gals, because just like that, it is Autumn again and I find myself eagerly flicking through September Vogue to gleefully absorb this year’s trends, brands to watch, IT girls and newly launched beauty products I just have to try. As Fashion month has come to a close I am back again to divulge the takeaways from this year’s September Issue and reveal the must read articles, latest investment pieces and the unsubtle building blocks you need for your autumn wardrobe. As a fashion aficionada, I find the September Issue a collection of intoxicating and complex style, full of expression and #chicvibesonly and as it happens, last years’ article is probably my …

Be Dior & Sumptuous Style

I’ve definitely drifted from brand to brand over the years, from flicking through Vogue to scrolling through Net-A-Porter’s ‘New in’ page, I have lusted after many a trend however, my client loyalty has been with the classics, Vuitton and Chanel. As you know, this year that all changed when I became infatuated with Dior, all of which can be read about here and here. Thus it was a no brainer when I began a new job back in May, that I would purchase a new bag in honour of moving forward and leaving the last five years behind me. Christian Dior was an obvious avenue to pursue as a new season bag was already on my radar and luckily, already on hold in the name of EKD. I remember when I bought my first luxury handbag, I believe it was November 2011 and my sister Elle accompanied me to Selfridges to make my greatly anticipated purchase. I was 16 and I picked up the bag I had always wanted, a Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 in Monogram …

Christian Dior Diorissimo Wallet

After using my Lady Dior with my Louis Vuitton Insolite wallet, I decided it was just too big and bulky for the bag. It’s such a great wallet, it wears amazingly well and is perfect for everyday however, I don’t feel it’s suited to the Lady Dior. I wanted something smaller, delicate and black. This led me to my Christian Dior boutique once again, to go through as many Dior wallets as I could to find ‘the one.’  I ended up going for the Medium “Diorissimo” Voyageur wallet in black calf leather and contrasting Rose Indien interior with champagne gold hardware. I wanted something smaller than my LV, and so this medium size is perfect! It’s made from an absolutely beautiful textured calf leather and so will resist scratches from the zip of the Lady Dior. It houses eight card slots, a zipped coin compartment and an interior middle pocket. It also comes with the detachable Dior charm for added elegance. I absolutely adore this wallet, it’s a beautiful and convenient size without being too small. …

The House of Christian Dior

When I think of Christian Dior Couture, I think of elegance, romance and beautiful silhouettes. I picture gorgeous tailoring, Paris and Princess Diana. I envision the lady boss that is Charlize Theron and the delicacy of Natalie Portman in a Miss Dior couture gown. I think of 30, Avenue Montaigne and I also consider the man himself, the couturier – the founder of the House of Christian Dior. Now, I think it’s about time I address my obscene fascination with one of the worlds greatest fashion houses. I fell madly in love with Dior after spending a serendipitous afternoon admiring everything from ballerina flats to lilac silk scarves, back in January 2016. I remember previously visiting the very same boutique back when I was 16 and discovering luxury fashion for the first time. It was just as magical now as it was back then. I have found the associates in Dior to be second to non. From New Bond Street to Dubai, I have never had such incredible customer service. The way my SA understands my …
