Won’t You Take Me To Flavourtown

Sometimes I think I should’ve been named Emily Cake instead of Emily Kate for the simple reason that I am a cake connoisseur. Is there really anything more disappointing that dry cake? Or grainy icing? Or tasteless sponge? NO, there is not. And so, I went on the hunt for the best cake in town and I actually found it, at Flavourtown Bakery in Fulham. The vanilla rainbow cake, to be exact and what a dream it is. Moist, fluffy and decadent, the cake at FT is so addictively good that my friend and I did a drive-by at 9am to satisfy cake cravings for breakfast – it was so worth it! EKD X

15 Moments From 2015

I find it’s so easy to forget all the things you do in a year, so I have gone back through my calendar and Instagram to put together 15 memorable moments from 2015. It doesn’t feel a year ago since I did a similar round up of 2014… I’m definitely not where I hoped I would be this time last year, however new goals are set and I’m ready to make 2016 a more positive and productive year. I’m not going to go on a cliché rant about evolving and being a ‘new me’ or rubbish like that, 2016 is simply a new number to title my day planner, however I have good feelings about this one! I not only went blonde in 2015, but I cut my hair short! I was feeling Kim K Paris Fashion week and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley vibes and surprised not only myself but my hair stylist too! I don’t imagine I will ever have long hair again… My first ever article was published this year and I have to say, it is one …

EKD in London

Recently, I’ve spent rather a lot of time on trains and tubes gallivanting around London. Whether it’s searching out a Brunch destination, rushing to a reservation at Fortnum’s or sweating in Shoreditch, eager to make my first meeting at the Ace hotel, I’ve loved the adventure of it all! I’ve been super busy with work, university and family the past few weeks but it’s been pretty exciting and I’m enthusiastic about what is to come! Here are a few of my favourite moments from the past few weeks… Lets begin with arriving at St.Pancras after a 4.30am start! I arrived at 10am and was so ready to hunt out some breakfast. I found a chic and hidden breakfast destination in Thomas’s at the Burberry flagship on Regent Street. My sister and I had a tour and shopping session in this store two weeks earlier and I remembered the delicate and charming restaurant hidden within. I will definitely be back! I took the tube everywhere I went, remembering my Grandma’s tips on not getting my purse pinched… Team Taylor and …

The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook

One of my favourite things to do is bake; we have multiple Mary Berry AGA cookbooks etc. however nothing quite like the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook, this one is certainly in a league of its own. The Hummingbird Bakery was founded in 2004 and subsequently expanded to have a further five stores throughout London. My adoration for The Great British Bake Off has inspired me to venture away from my standard chunk cookie and chocolate cake into more dangerous and indulgent territory. May I just say that I am truly gutted that Martha left last week, I was totally routing for her! The Hummingbird Bakery specializes in American-style baked treats and desserts and the cookbook completely reflects that, from gooey frosted brownies to peanut butter cookies, this cookbook has it all! I shall be delving into my new obsession this weekend to gladly bring the authentic taste of American home baking to London Derbyshire! If you’re looking for some inspiration for some indulgent comfort food as winter creeps up on us, please look no further, this photo filled wonder is a …
