Chantecaille Summer Must-Haves

When it comes to summer makeup, I prefer to use cream products instead of powders, mainly because I don’t want a really heavy look but also because creams create a natural radiance which feels weightless on the skin. The Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer is my summer must-have as it blends so seamlessly with a brush or fingers and provides a long-lasting beach glow like no other; I’ve used it every day for the past few weeks and I adore it. This gel bronzer is ultra-moisturising and adds a natural luminosity to the complexion, ideal for those beachy days. Initially, I combine a small amount of the gel with my primer to create a sheer tanned base then after applying my foundation, I blend it across my cheeks and over the highpoints of the face to create a sun-kissed glow. It’s such a lightweight product that surpasses any of my other cream bronzers; since the gel consistency is like an additional layer of skincare, it gives you that no-makeup makeup look we all love. Now, you …

Tom Ford Gives Me LIFE

There will always be something about Tom Ford that I simply can’t resist… From falling in love at 16, I’ve been in a committed relationship ever since. There is no other beauty brand that I love as much as TF; from the Gold Dust bronzing powder to the Noir de Noir Private Blend fragrance, they get it right every time. Lately I have been loving using my Traceless Foundation Stick, the best foundation I have ever bought and that is definitely saying something, as my collection currently houses over 12 different foundations. The coverage and longevity is insane and after applying my skin looks glowy and radiant. If I have an event, party or simply want to feel my sassy self on a Wednesday morning, I will always reach for my TF Stick as it blends effortlessly and is so easy to carry in my bag throughout the day for quick touch-ups. I feel like I’ve been banging on about how incredible Tom Ford products are since I began EKD in 2014, but it’s something you just …

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

I was lucky enough to be invited to a Chanel event last week, for a presentation of the new Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation. Initially, I wasn’t a hundred percent sure as it is a semi-matte formula however, after trying it at the event I am hooked. Starting with the packaging, Chanel have gone back to their roots with a frosted glass bottle, it feels luxury and it looks stunning. It also comes with a pump… massive brownie points! The consistency reminds me of the Les Beiges Fluid, just slightly creamier and it has SPF 25. There is also a delicate scent, it’s very fresh and pleasing and doesn’t linger. As per usual, the shade range is not great, there are only 9 shades in the Healthy Glow however, 020 is a perfect colour match for me. For reference, I am N1 in Mac Face and Body, 010 in Dior Star, 02 in Guerlain Lingerie de Peau and Mont Blanc in Nars Sheer Glow. I typically apply my base with a damp beautyblender however, I have been reaching for my …

Radiant Winter Makeup

Despite the fact it’s January, I have still been reaching for my summer faves, to brighten up my makeup look and add some much needed warmth and glow to my complexion. I find using a glowy primer is the best first step in achieving summer skin and I like to use the Dior Glow Maximizer, but the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector liquids or the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow work just the same. I first take a small amount on the tops of my cheekbones and then mix a pump into my base, this way your foundation becomes more radiant and your highlight looks from within. A cream bronzing base is everything when it comes to adding natural warmth to the skin and I love the Chanel Soliel de Tan, but I am also dying to try the YSL Le Teint Saharienne, which seems to work in a similar way. I first work a small amount on to the back of my hand to warm it up and then use an Artis Oval 6 to buff it …

Contour Me Pretty

I can never leave the house without contouring; adding a subtle shadow to sculpt my face makes all the difference to any makeup look. I have noticed that some find the entire prospect of a ‘contour’ completely overwhelming, like what product is best? And what brush do I use? And where do I put it? Should I blend it? Etc. My three tips I’ve learnt when contouring is suck in your cheeks, make sure you put the product in the right place! You should be able to see the natural shadow when you pout, making it a whole lot easier. Second, blend, blend, and blend! Depending on the amount of definition you want, blending the bronzer or contour colour well will make such a difference, even if you want to build up the colour, blend after each application. And third, less is often more. A contour job for everyday and for an occasion/evening is very different, however the majority of the time less is more. A cool toned blush will often look more natural and …
