Why I Love Makeup

I was just cleansing my face whilst pondering over potential blog posts and Cult Beauty orders and I couldn’t help but wonder, why I really love makeup. When I open my makeup drawers, I feel inspired. It sounds obscure for a non-makeup lover however, there are two significant reasons why my greatest collection is my makeup collection. Makeup makes me feel beautiful – Yep you guessed it! I often have days where I don’t feel very pretty or confident and so I love to shop my collection and create a look to increase my confidence and make me feel good about myself. This isn’t about covering up my face; it’s about enhancing my features, mood and creating that assured and positive mindset. Makeup allows me to be creative – A lot like writing, styling outfits, makeup looks or reading Vogue all make me feel creative and inspired. It’s a passion; an obsession, something that brings out the best in myself and makes me happy! Makeup is a tool that allows me to alter my look to suit an …

I Need You, Arthur

I am no stranger to Chanel lipsticks. I do believe Mademoiselle, 05 Rouge Coco was my first ever high-end lipstick, and one that is still a staple in my collection. I adore Chanel for beauty, a reliable and firm favourite, my go-to when I need to add glamour into my afternoon! Last week I picked up Arthur, 440, the first release from the new Rouge Coco collection, launching on March 15th. I am in love. I pair it with another new launch from the Chanel Spring collection, Capucine, 92 lip liner. I find using a good lip liner with a bold colour will stop it from bleeding and make it even more long-lasting. I’ve had so many compliments when I’ve been wearing Arthur, which has been non-stop this past week! I like to pair it with Tom Ford Cream colour in Platinum on …

I have noticed that some find the entire prospect of a ‘contour’ completely overwhelming, like what product is best? And what brush do I use? And where do I put it? Should I blend it? Etc. My three tips I’ve learnt when contouring is suck in your cheeks, make sure you put the product in the right place! You should be able to see the natural shadow when you pout, making it a whole lot easier. Second, blend, blend, and blend! Depending on the amount of definition you want, blending the bronzer or contour colour well will make such a difference, even if you want to build up the colour, blend after each application. And third, less is often more. A contour job for everyday and for an occasion/evening is very different, however the majority of the time less is more. A cool toned blush will often look more natural and …
