Mascara Vibes #VolumeShake

After receiving the new Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara*, I thought I would give it a whirl as I am on the market for a new mascara anyway. When the press release read ‘no clumps,’ I was immediately captivated and after trying it out for a few days I actually really like it! The brush is a good size with bristles that actually get into the root of the lashes, coating each lash effectively. I did find it added good length and volume, it also doesn’t flake or smudge throughout the day and is easy to remove with cleansing oil. This new launch from Rimmel features the first-to-market patented shaker system that refreshes the volumizing formula, so we can all say goodbye to mascara that dries out and looses its oomph! Now, I am not sure how well this will actually work – I feel like I’d need a month or two to see if I notice a difference however, it is definitely a welcomed addition to a mascara. I found it really easy to apply and the …

Jimmy Choo Needs

Now I know that it’s the little things in life that matter most – like when my Mum surprised me with flowers just because she knew I was having a bad day or when my favourite band liked my tweet…lol. Having said that, every once in a while a girl needs Jimmy Choo – I’m sure you can understand. It was more of a practical decision of I need black flats over what should my first pair of Jimmy Choos be? These just happened to be the pair I loved that also fit my needs. Don’t get me wrong, the second I think of black flats I automatically gravitate towards Chanel as my CC ballerinas are simply beautiful and super comfy however, I was after a chic flat that wasn’t leather soled and so I had to cross the desperately desired Chanels off my list, for the time being anyway… I typically wear black Lanvin sneakers or black suede Tods to work and so I really was missing a black ballerina flat in my wardrobe. I tried …

Acne Studios: The Canada Scarf

I couldn’t help but wonder what my most worn piece in my wardrobe is and after much consideration, I decided upon my Acne Studios Canada scarves. I currently have two and intend on acquiring more colours in the near future. Not only are they pure Italian quality, they’re basically a blanket luxuriously disguised as a scarf. They compliment my tiresome commute impeccably, and make it even easier for me to tilt my head comfortably whilst I snooze ungracefully on the train at 7.42am. Composed of 100% wool, a Canada scarf is an Acne Studios staple and will keep you warm in oversized style, flattering any coat or cosy knit.  I reach for mine everyday and find the understated and simplistic vibe of Acne to be my preferred one at present. As I build my accessory collection, I find myself choosing pieces that I not only adore but that will always frame my wardrobe effortlessly. My Canada scarves are my go-to and a piece I would warmly recommend investing in. #chicvibesonly   EKD X

Thoughts on the Large Lady Dior

I actually shocked myself when I sat down to write this and realised I bought my Lady Dior bag a year ago this month. Granted, it sat in my room unopened for another six weeks until my 21st Birthday, but still! It’s been exactly twelve months since I made my greatest and most anticipated purchase! So, is it worth the money? Absolutely. Each size of the Lady has increased substantially in price since I purchased mine, I paid £2750 in February 2016. The Large currently retails for £3200, look how much bag you are getting for your buck though… in comparison, a large classic Chanel bag is now £4830. From an investment point of view, after one year my bag still looks brand new and I have confidence that if I were ever to sell it (like I would haha) I would definitely get my money back, which is a comforting thought when paying a significant amount of money for a bag. Yearly Dior price increases and Brexit have affected the escalation but, would I buy …

Tom Ford Ravish Cheek Colour

I’m going to go right out and say it – Tom Ford is my favourite makeup brand of all time. There – I said it, and I meant it. I adore Tom Ford, always have and always will. Unfortunately, I’ve not come across much that can compete on Tom’s level… From the dreamy packaging, exceptional product quality and outstanding customer service, Tom Ford wins and today, TF is winning with my new favourite Cheek Colour – Ravish. I picked this up a few months ago and have been addicted ever since. I find the quality of Tom Ford powder products – whether that be a bronzer, highlight or blush – to be amazing. They’re buttery smooth and blend seamlessly, with amazing colour payoff and longevity – What else could you possibly want? Ravish is amazing paired with a nude or red lip and that diversity is something I look for when choosing my everyday makeup bag products. I would say Ravish is a rich pink with red undertones and slight shimmer. It looks bold in …

A Luminous Base From Guerlain

Late last year I spent a wonderful afternoon with Guerlain, trying out all their products both new and old. I picked up a whole array of makeup but there were three standouts, all of which are base products! I have been using these constantly since October, so I feel I can give a thorough and tested review. Firstly, let me say the service and product quality at Guerlain is exceptional, I loved everything I tried and I really admire the subtlety and elegance of the brand. The item I have used the most and sadly almost ran out of, is the Météorites Oxygen Care Moisturiser & Radiance Booster. This moisturiser has a smoothing and radiant effect on the skin and really illuminates the complexion. I use this as a pre-makeup base and find it really makes a difference in the luminosity and hydration of my makeup throughout the day. It has a pearlescent glow and carries the signature delicate violet scent, but nothing lingering or offensive. I have been addicted to using this, thus why I only …

Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Back in January, after observing the huge trend of matte liquid lipsticks for long enough, I decided to get up to speed and order the latest release – Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour. I picked up two shades, a peachy nude, Back In Vogue and a rich cranberry red, Dance With Me. My initial thoughts were really positive… I don’t mind the packaging – I find it pretty standard for Mac, the shade range is also good and the price point is OK at £21 each. I first swatched each shade on my wrist to see what the colouring and texture was like. I was impressed on first swatch as both were very pigmented, smooth and opaque which is what I would look for in a liquid lipstick. I then went to try them on the lips, both applied with ease although I would recommend using a lip liner to ensure absolute precision as once they dry, they really set. I would describe the formula as a creamy mousse and the applicator felt smooth and easy to navigate. They don’t …

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Light

I’ve been counting down the days until the Hourglass Strobing powders would become available and the anticipation was SO worth it. They are truly stunning, I picked up Iridescent Light and intend on ordering more. I was already a fan of Hourglass products and I believe they’re Ambient Lighting range to be outstandingly good however, these powders take that to another level. They are finely milled, sheer and oh so blendable, not to mention the gorgeous and iconic packaging… The Strobe Lighting powders have been released in four shades, ranging from pink to yellow undertones, each giving a unique luminosity. I went for Iridescent Light which is a sheer pink pearl shade, because it’s unlike any other illuminating powder in my collection. I typically gravitate towards pigmented golden highlights such as Becca Champagne Pop however, these are completely different. A ‘strobe’ powder is the perfect name for these, after swatching a few highlighters it is clear that ‘highlighter’ would be too strong of a name. The Hourglass Strobe Lighting powders add such a gorgeous ‘lit from …

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

I was lucky enough to be invited to a Chanel event last week, for a presentation of the new Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation. Initially, I wasn’t a hundred percent sure as it is a semi-matte formula however, after trying it at the event I am hooked. Starting with the packaging, Chanel have gone back to their roots with a frosted glass bottle, it feels luxury and it looks stunning. It also comes with a pump… massive brownie points! The consistency reminds me of the Les Beiges Fluid, just slightly creamier and it has SPF 25. There is also a delicate scent, it’s very fresh and pleasing and doesn’t linger. As per usual, the shade range is not great, there are only 9 shades in the Healthy Glow however, 020 is a perfect colour match for me. For reference, I am N1 in Mac Face and Body, 010 in Dior Star, 02 in Guerlain Lingerie de Peau and Mont Blanc in Nars Sheer Glow. I typically apply my base with a damp beautyblender however, I have been reaching for my …

Can’t Live Without Mac Fix+

Mac Prep + Prime Fix+ has quickly become a staple in my routine. I love to spritz this over my moisturiser before I apply my base and I always spray plenty on my damp beauty blender. By including these extra steps in my routine, I’m adding dewiness and moisture into the skin. As well as that, Fix+ also helps your makeup stay in place and last all day. If the benefits of Fix+ aren’t enough, the scent is so dreamy that I often spritz a little too much just because I’m taking in the fragrance at the same time! Even though I don’t often powder my face, I do use powder blush, highlight and bronzer and so by using Fix+, that powdery texture is vastly reduced and makes your makeup look more like skin. I don’t know if I could manage my routine without it and will certainly be re-purchasing before I run too low. If you have dry skin, struggle with powdery texture or are looking for added dewiness, I would seriously recommend picking this up! EKD …
