Rad T-Shirts

Despite the fact that I aim for #chicvibes when I get dressed in the morning, somedays I do just want to throw on my 501’s and be casually comfortable, this is when I search out a great tee. I have linen t-shirts from Zara that I adore and navy tees from Whistles which are probably the most flattering t-shirts ever! However, a sassy slogan t-shirt is such a cute addition to anyones wardrobe, my favourites are from Rad.  Rad t-shirts are 100% cotton and they offer both casual and slim fit options, not to mention a whole array of innovative and sassy slogans. They fit well, wash well and are perfect to wear through the summer months with sneakers and jean shorts! I would never usually gravitate towards slogan tee’s for myself however, these two from Rad are so me, I just had to pick them up! What are your thoughts on slogan t-shirts? Are you with me and dressing for comfort?   EKD X

London Vibes

I’m trying to make myself fall more in love with London, to make the prospect of moving more bearable and actually exciting. I plan to move for work however when it comes down to it, the thought of leaving my countryside upbringing and gorgeous home free from traffic noise, is slightly daunting. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure I will love it, LDN vibes inspire me! But change is change and if I’m honest, it’s always made me slightly nervous… I’ve gone through photographs from last year and collated my faves from Regent Street to hydrangeas! What’s your favourite thing about London? EKD X

15 Moments From 2015

I find it’s so easy to forget all the things you do in a year, so I have gone back through my calendar and Instagram to put together 15 memorable moments from 2015. It doesn’t feel a year ago since I did a similar round up of 2014… I’m definitely not where I hoped I would be this time last year, however new goals are set and I’m ready to make 2016 a more positive and productive year. I’m not going to go on a cliché rant about evolving and being a ‘new me’ or rubbish like that, 2016 is simply a new number to title my day planner, however I have good feelings about this one! I not only went blonde in 2015, but I cut my hair short! I was feeling Kim K Paris Fashion week and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley vibes and surprised not only myself but my hair stylist too! I don’t imagine I will ever have long hair again… My first ever article was published this year and I have to say, it is one …

Chanel Slingbacks

I purchased my first pair of Chanel shoes back in January 2012, they were the two-tone classic flat in lambskin leather and I felt like a princess! There is something about Chanel that I am obsessed with. I adore the heritage, the classic yet contemporary style and the chic vibes. I am all about investing in key fashion accessories that are timeless and I feel Chanel is the perfect avenue to go down when it comes to investment pieces. When I was in London a few weeks ago, the suede slingbacks were out of stock and so I didn’t think I would manage to score a pair. About a week later I called a few boutiques in London but couldn’t quite nail down a re-stock date from an assistant. Luckily, I have a connection from the Manchester boutique in Selfridges and dropped her an email. My name was added to the waiting list and just four days later I got THE call! From my experience with my other pairs of shoes from Chanel, I knew I …

EKD in London

Recently, I’ve spent rather a lot of time on trains and tubes gallivanting around London. Whether it’s searching out a Brunch destination, rushing to a reservation at Fortnum’s or sweating in Shoreditch, eager to make my first meeting at the Ace hotel, I’ve loved the adventure of it all! I’ve been super busy with work, university and family the past few weeks but it’s been pretty exciting and I’m enthusiastic about what is to come! Here are a few of my favourite moments from the past few weeks… Lets begin with arriving at St.Pancras after a 4.30am start! I arrived at 10am and was so ready to hunt out some breakfast. I found a chic and hidden breakfast destination in Thomas’s at the Burberry flagship on Regent Street. My sister and I had a tour and shopping session in this store two weeks earlier and I remembered the delicate and charming restaurant hidden within. I will definitely be back! I took the tube everywhere I went, remembering my Grandma’s tips on not getting my purse pinched… Team Taylor and …

A Year of EKD

As I sit in the drawing-room, instagramming and waiting for my headache to subside before returning to my creative writing assignment, I cant help but wonder if ‘May’ hates me. By May, I mean the month… Every year, from lets say the middle of April to the end of June, life always seems to go tits up! I am irrationally blaming May, and sticking to it. Perhaps, it’s because a few years ago during my fitness rampage, I posted a picture on instagram saying ‘MAY IS MY BITCH,’ all for fitness and training purposes, obviously. I regret it now, since my disrespect to said month seems to be coming back to slap me in the face, every. damn. year. I appreciate that I haven’t blogged in months, and my contribution to EKD has been inconsistent at best, however I am in my third year of university and it has been the biggest struggle, more in terms of time-consuming than anything and when I’m not working on essays or reading children’s books for my Lit module, …

What I Got For Christmas 2014

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and got everything you were hoping for. I always love seeing what others got for Christmas and so I thought I would do a post myself, showing you my highlights!  I was inundated with incredible treats this year, many of which have been on my wishlist for months! Firstly I got a few books. One I’d been thinking of getting for a while now was Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes. I’m not a massive fan of ‘rule books’ when it comes to make up however I’ve heard such wonderful things about this and so I was pleased to find it under the tree. I then opened some wonders from Laura Mercier. The Ambre Vanillé Honey Bath, Ambre Vanillé Soufflé Body Cream, Creme Brûlée Soufflé Body Cream and the Fan Powder makeup brush. I have been using the body soufflés day and night since I got them and I think they’re an amazing moisturizer. Not too thick at all and they sink into the skin beautifully …

2014

Be it Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, each is currently bursting with New Year wishes, thanks and details of the ‘amazing year’. I am staggered by how great 2014 was for so many as I scroll down to see ‘2014 was my best year yet, bring on 2015!’ over fifty times. This past year certainly flew by quicker than I ever anticipated. I wish I could join the masses and praise the last 12 months but 2014 has been the hardest year of my life, with each month came new and unexpected setbacks, right from the get-go. However, there were a few highlights… My Dad turned the big 5-0, my brother graduated with a First Class Honours Degree, my sister moved into a beautiful new house, I started writing EKD and most importantly, Frankie Doo turned one! 2014 was also the year I discovered Suits, Amelia Liana, denim on denim, Diptique, Gossip Girl, Lena Dunham, The Great British Bake-Off, scrunchies, Tyler Oakley, Magic Cream, Covetique and Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer! In the last twelve months, I …

Noël

My parents venture to the Longshaw Estate every year to pick out our family Christmas tree, choosing the perfect one is always a task my mother takes in her stride and this year she delivered. With ceilings towering over ten foot, our tree needs to be spectacular! I find myself feeling far more festive than I ever image I will once the tree is up and I’m decorating it with the family. We have a tradition to always pick up unique christmas ornaments from around the world when we take one of our Dale Adventures and so our tree is filled with hand painted baubles from Budapest, crafted elephants from India, beaded angels from New York and wooden creations from Morocco. My favourite decoration is always the glittered ballerina, I much prefer unique, elegant and classic ornaments. This year we picked up our mantle piece garland from The White Company, one of the best we’ve had I think! I’ve only just started to shop for everyone’s gifts but some Cinderella themed presents already lay under …

Personal Trainer Review: LEP Fitness

Something I had been meaning to do for a while now is a review of my experience with a private personal trainer, Nick Screeton at LEP Fitness. Those that know me, know I used to have a brilliant personal trainer, Niki. I was honest to everyone in saying I thought she was wonderful and really helped me achieve my goals. Niki left me in February to pursue a new job in management and so I hopped to a new trainer and after a while, felt I had simply stopped progressing and wished to change things up after eighteen months of constant and similar training regimes. I had worked with two personal trainers prior to an evening of research, hunting down a replacement. I googled personal trainers in Sheffield and LEP Fitness repeatedly caught my eye. I found multiple rave reviews, each expressing their delight at the service and excellent, unbeatable results and, after considering his website I was impressed. I discussed my finding with my family and we decided that the testimonials stood for themselves and I should …
