The Cleansing Step You’re Missing

Not only do we have scrub our entire body so we feel as silky as an Hermes scarf, we should also be exfoliating our scalp?! I put the new IGK Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub, £31 to the test to see if we should all be adding this extra step to our cleansing routine.

My initial thoughts on this were not great – I wasn’t keen on the scent and I really struggled to get into my scalp with the product to actually give it a scrub. Instead, my hair felt clogged and I couldn’t wait to wash it off. Luckily, I felt full of second chances and gave it another go.

I’m still not a fan of the scent however, I do like the cooling effect it gives. I slathered the paste down my parting and thoroughly massaged it into my scalp before going all over my hair with it and since I hadn’t washed my hair in 4 days, it really needed it.

Post wash, I went in with my Noughty Blondie Locks Conditioner which smells divine and makes up for the minty walnut mess. Combined my hair felt smoother, looked shinier and was oh so clean.

Seeing as I make it a ritual to exfoliate my body, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be taking care of our scalps too and since this is packed with natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar which seals the cuticles and peppermint oil which helps to establish a healthy PH for the scalp, I’m keen to add this to my routine once a week.

It’s especially good if you’re like me and dry shampoo has been your saviour for a few days because this really gives your hair a deep and nourishing clean.
