I am loving all black right now! I always feel chic when wearing black, plus it’s the most flatting colour and utterly timeless. I’ve collated a few of my favourite pieces right now, with an emphasis on tailoring, a classic aesthetic and Dior Couture!
The first piece I want to talk about is this Oscar de la Renta dress. The signature silhouette has been modernised for Spring by the Creative director, Peter Copping. I love the contemporary drop waist which gives a feminine and elongated silhouette. I am obsessed with this reinvented LBD which is reminiscent of the pink Oscar de la Renta dress Carrie wore in SATC… Positively dreamy!
I have always had a thing for the Lady Dior. Created in 1995 and named after Princess Diana, the Lady Dior is feminine, classic and a piece of couture heritage. I truly see it as a timeless work of art and find myself dreaming of the iconic Dior “Cannage” stitching. The Lady Dior is made by hand and comes in a variety of colours and materials. My favourite being the black lambskin with gold hardware – delicate yet opulent.
When it comes to blazers, I adore tailoring. I am obsessed with Chanel, Dior and Alexander McQueen tailoring. I feel each house enhances a woman’s figure in a feminine yet unique way. My current favourite is this Alexander McQueen Folded Peplum Jacket. I feel this is a new twist on the peplum silhouette and one so chic. I love the crop sleeve and deep V-neck; edgy, ladylike and tailored to perfection!
When it comes to shoes, a Loafer often has my heart. Gucci is the house I would immediately gravitate towards when it comes to an iconic and androgynous loafer. Their new Princetown Leather Slipper in black leather with gold-tone hardware has my heart! I am obsessed with the slip on silhouette and I believe this reinvention of a classic loafer is a true winner. Contemporary yet oh so classic – I am in love.
‘Coffee table books feed my soul,’ a line I had to include in my About page when I began EKD – because they really do. I love admiring the iconic photography but I also adore reading in-depth history on my favourite designers and couture houses. This Christian Dior book holds a portfolio of stunning gowns from the entire era of Christian Dior haute couture, including dresses designed by Dior himself – is anyone else swooning?!
Tailoring never goes out of style, neither does a Lady Dior. Gucci loafers are a staple in ones wardrobe and what fashionista doesn’t lust after an iconic Oscar de la Renta?
