As I mentioned in my Easy Berry Breakfast post, I have adjusted my lifestyle lately to be more active, nutritious and healthy and with that, I picked up the Deliciously Ella cookbook on my sisters recommendation.
The first recipe I tried was the Easy Avocado Chocolate Mousse. It calls for nutritious ingredients and is gluten, dairy and refined sugar free. I found the recipe simple to follow and the ingredients easy to source. I actually thumbed numerous recipes I wanted to try and picked up all the common ingredients from Waitrose.
The mousse gets its sweet chocolate taste from dates and Cacao powder, which I already had in the pantry. Cacao is the raw powder ground straight from a coco bean, it is high in antioxidants and carries a richer, fuller flavour than cocoa. I picked this up from Holland & Barratt last year.
Despite the use of avocado, the mousse doesn’t actually taste of them, don’t worry! They just give it a creamy and smooth texture. Once blitzed, the mousse was a thick consistency with a chocolate/banana flavour. I found it to be filling and quench any sweet cravings.
For chocolate lovers looking for nutritious alternatives, I would definitely recommend picking up Ella’s book and trying out some of her nutritious and tasty recipes!
