It is not often I venture into Superdrug with the intention of buying makeup, however I wanted to try out some new and sought after products for myself!
I have been hearing wonderful things about the exclusive new release from L’oreal.
The L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Nudes and Reds are their new lip collections, featuring numerous supermodels and movie stars. At a glance, the pigmentation and range of colours looked amazing.
These sought after lipsticks, named after various celebrities recently hit the shelves and also emptied them. Every Boots and Superdrug I entered had an empty space where Blake, Eva and Doutzen (just to name a few) used to stand.
I picked up the last one which appeared most popular, Blake from the exclusive Reds collection. I really loved the colour, raving reviews online made my choice easy and at just £6.99 I couldn’t not. I think I may pick up a few more actually.
I don’t mind the packaging and there is no offensive scent. They are creamy and highly pigmented plus they last really well. After a few hours, an effortless stain is left, leaving that ‘just bitten’ look, which I adore!
The next thing I picked up is a Maybelline Forever Strong Professional Nail Varnish in Extreme Blackcurrant, which is a deep glossy purple, perfect for fall and winter.
I’ve heard Amelia Liana talk non-stop about how brilliant these are and she was right. The lasting power is fantastic with minimal chipping after almost a week.
They go on really lovely, look glossy and at just £4.49 I am extremely impressed. I will definitely be picking up a few more colours.
I then went to Barry M. I love wearing bold shimmers or nude eyeliners in my waterline to make my eyes appear bigger and brighter, and so I picked up a bold bronze waterproof kohl pencil.
It’s extremely soft, glides on like a dream and lasts well. I do prefer my high end usuals however this is a great alternative for just £3.99.
Lastly, I bought a 24/7 Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadow from Maybelline. This one is in Vintage Plum No.97. It’s a sort of lavender with grey undertones, I really like it for fall.
I found this to be a lot more creamy than I expected and the pigmentation is pretty good too.
I tried this product out last week and found the best way for it to last is to blend, blend, blend and then layer. If you use this as a base, pack on some shadow then layer the cream again and it will not budge or crease.
An inexpensive dupe for cream eyeshadow from the likes of Chanel and Bobbi Brown.
I walked out of Superdrug pretty happy, plus it was only around £15, since I think there was a 3 for 2 offer. I am impressed all round with these drug store buys!
I’m not saying I will go and buy all my makeup from Superdrug from now on, Tom Ford will always have my heart, however I did enjoy trying new products out and attempting to discover worthy dupes for my premium favourites.
What are your new drug store loves? I’d love to know!
